When you book a wingshooting adventure with Pointer Wingshooting, you’re signing up for one of the most thrilling, high-volume bird hunting experiences on Earth. In the legendary dove skies above dove-filled skies above Argentina, you need a reliable shotgun to make the most of it.
But before you start looking at new shotguns or packing your favorite scatter gun, there are some important travel regulations and logistics you should consider.
While it’s possible to bring your firearm, it’s not always the most convenient route. Here’s the full breakdown so you can decide if it’s worth bringing your own or if you’d rather travel light and rent top-tier hunting gear upon arrival.
Flying with Firearms: What to Know
Let’s start with the basics: if you’re planning to fly with American Airlines, you’ll need to rethink your plan, as they do not allow firearms on flights to Córdoba. If bringing your personal firearm is essential to you, you’ll need to book with another airline and ensure your entry and exit points are through the same Argentine airport. That’s key.
Traveling with guns also comes with strict paperwork requirements and extra costs. Argentina requires hunters to fill out a technical form for temporary firearm authorization in triplicate and pay a $600 fee per gun, plus another $600 for any extra or interchangeable barrels.
(Note: Prices may change, so be sure to confirm with our team before your trip.)
You’ll need to:
- Fill out the form before arrival.
- Keep one copy for yourself.
- Surrender another copy when you leave.
- Show proof of payment and firearm details at customs.
Local police may also check firearms while you’re in the country, though these additional inspections are typically free of charge.
Our Advice: Travel Light, Hunt Hard
While it’s possible to bring your own shotgun, we highly recommend renting one of our premium, field-tested firearms instead. It’s hassle-free, and you’ll be using top-quality brands like Beretta and Benelli, the same guns our professional staff use and trust.
Most of our guests opt for 20-gauge semi-automatics or over/unders, loaded with 25-gram shells in sizes 7, 7½, or 8. Other popular choices include 12-gauge and 28-gauge over/unders.
Every gun is professionally cleaned daily, and we provide protective soft cases to transport your gear between shoots.
For a next-level experience, try a British-style double gun shoot, where your field assistant reloads for you. It’s fast, elegant, and exhilarating, but keep in mind that double gun rentals carry an additional fee.
