Dress for the Terrain, the Volume, and the Conditions

Clothing and Field Gear

The Argentine hunting environment varies by region and season, but a few principles apply across all programs. Comfort and practicality come first.

Clothing

Hunting shirts in shades of green, brown, or camouflage are recommended for all dove, pigeon, and perdiz programs. Pack a light sweater or jacket for cool mornings and evenings.

Footwear

Lightweight ankle-high boots or trail shoes are ideal for dove, pigeon, and perdiz hunting. A breathable waterproof option such as Gore-Tex boots is excellent. Thorny brush is common on most Córdoba properties, so low-cut sneakers offer less protection.

Hat

A wide-brimmed hat is strongly recommended for sun protection. A personalized Pointer Wing Shooting cap is provided, but additional sun protection is beneficial.

Ear Protection

This is the most important item on any dove hunting packing list. The average hunter in Córdoba shoots between 500 and 3,000 shells per day. Quality hearing protection is essential. Electronic ear protection that allows ambient sound while blocking gunfire is ideal.

Shooting Gloves

Quality leather shooting gloves are recommended. Golf or batting gloves are acceptable alternatives. Waterproof insulated gloves are strongly recommended for duck hunting.

Shoulder Pad

For dove hunting programs, we highly recommend the Caldwell Field Shield or a similar ambidextrous energy-absorbing shoulder pad

Shell Pouch or Vest

A belt-style shell pouch or shooting vest is useful for hunters who prefer loading their own gun rather than using the field assistant loader service.

Small Field Bag or Backpack

Useful for carrying a camera, personal items, sunscreen, and other necessities.

Insect Repellent and Sunscreen

Essential during the spring and summer seasons between September and March.

Basic First Aid

We carry first aid kits in the field, but bringing antihistamine cream, Neosporin, bandages, and personal medications is always recommended.

Duck Hunting Requires a Few Additional Considerations

Duck and Waterfowl Specific Gear

Duck hunting in Argentina takes place across marshlands, river islands, flooded rice fields, and lagoons. The gear requirements differ from upland programs.

Waders

Chest waders are the most practical option and are available for rent in all sizes. If bringing your own, breathable Gore-Tex camouflage chest waders are recommended. Hip waders are suitable for shallower conditions.

Insulated Layering

Argentine duck season runs from May through July during the austral winter. Mid-weight insulated base layers, a polar neck, and a quality insulated hunting jacket are essential.

Cold Weather Headwear

A camo or dark insulated beanie or hunting hat is important for early morning shoots. A hinged face mask that can be lowered quickly is ideal during colder months.

Waterproof Shooting Gloves

Waterproof insulated shooting gloves are strongly recommended.

Thermal Socks

High-bulk thermal socks make a significant difference during cold mornings. Bring multiple pairs

A Note on Professional Photography

Our lodges offer an optional professional photography service that can be added to any trip.

A private photographer will accompany your group in the field, capturing the hunt, the moments between shots, and the landscape in a way that a phone camera cannot. If you are interested in adding professional photography to your trip, let us know when you book and we will make the arrangements.
