The Fishing

Pointer Deep Fishing operates across three distinct styles of fishing that each require a different approach, different tackle, and a completely different character of experience. The offshore Pacific billfish program covers Guatemala, Panama, and Costa Rica, where Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, and Yellowfin Tuna are the primary targets on the open ocean. Boats leave the dock at first light and run to the offshore grounds, often covering significant distances to reach the most productive water. The captain and crew read the conditions, set the spread, and manage the presentation throughout the day. The fight with a Pacific Marlin or a Pacific Sailfish is genuinely one of the most powerful and most visually dramatic experiences available in saltwater sport fishing.

The inshore program at Costa Rica and Panama covers Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, and a remarkable variety of additional species on live bait in the coastal rock and reef structure that makes both destinations famous for inshore action alongside the offshore billfish program.

The Fraser River White Sturgeon program in British Columbia is a completely different character of fishing from anything the Pacific destinations deliver. This is a big freshwater river program targeting the largest freshwater fish in North America in a spectacular British Columbia mountain setting with salmon and a full range of additional Pacific species available alongside the primary sturgeon target.
