THE HUNTING

Pointer Italy offers two distinct hunting programs across its five properties, reflecting the genuine diversity of what Italian hunting delivers to visiting hunters.

The wing shooting program targets pheasant, quail, partridge, and duck across estates managed specifically for driven and walked-up bird hunting in the classic Italian tradition. Italy’s wing shooting is conducted over terrain that ranges from the rolling Tuscan hills of San Gimignano to the 500-hectare Piedmont hunting reserve at La Centuriona to the Piacenza countryside surrounding the Rivalta castle. The variety of landscape and the quality of the bird populations across these properties combine to produce wing shooting that is genuinely exceptional by any international standard.

The big game program targets red stag, fallow deer, roe deer, wild boar, and mouflon across estates in Tuscany and Umbria. Italy’s ungulate population is among the highest in Europe and the hunting grounds of the Pointer Italy properties reflect the density and the trophy quality that generations of careful land management have produced. Tuscany alone is home to the highest concentration of ungulates in all of Italy and the hunting grounds managed through our Tuscany properties are organized and structured to offer hunters excellent opportunities at consistently high quality trophy specimens.

The Cuisine

No other Pointer program places the same emphasis on the culinary experience as Pointer Italy. At every one of the five properties, the kitchen reflects the specific regional heritage of its location in a way that makes dinner each evening a genuine continuation of the cultural experience that began in the field that morning.
In Tuscany at San Gimignano, the menu celebrates the ancient traditions of Cordiliera cuisine with locally sourced ingredients, authentic dishes prepared by a professional chef, and wines from the estates of one of Italy’s most celebrated wine regions.

At La Centuriona in Piedmont, the kitchen showcases game from the estate, including roasted duck, slow-cooked partridge with local herbs, and quail prepared in the traditional northern Italian style alongside the extraordinary wines produced from the property’s own historic vineyards.

At Rivalta in Piacenza, the restaurant draws on the rich gastronomic heritage of the region with traditional Piacenza dishes, game preparations, and desserts that reflect the particular pride this region takes in its food culture.

At Todini in Umbria, the panoramic restaurant L’Altro Relais offers local specialties and traditional Umbrian cuisine with views of Todi from the glass-walled dining room, and the chef’s show cooking events give guests a direct window into the craft behind the food.

In the dense woodland on the outskirts of San Gimignano, behind the Castelvecchio natural reserve and near the ruins of a medieval town that has been inhabited since Etruscan times, La Tenuta di Castelvecchio occupies a position that is simultaneously timeless and extraordinarily convenient for reaching the major centers of artistic and cultural interest in Tuscany. The estate is very close to the medieval towers of San Gimignano itself, to Siena, to Florence, and to the broader Chianti wine country that defines this corner of the region.

A jewel nestled in the heart of Lower Piedmont in the province of Alessandria, La Centuriona is a property with over five hundred years of history that has hosted illustrious personalities and witnessed the great winemaking story of this extraordinary region. The imposing structure erected more than five centuries ago now presides over a hunting reserve that extends majestically between the Lemme and Ardana rivers, creating an environment of extraordinary biodiversity across 500 hectares of woods, meadows, traditional vineyards, and uncultivated lands.

An impressive fortified complex located along the banks of the Trebbia River in the village of Rivalta, owned since the thirteenth century by the Zanardi Landi family who have upgraded the entire complex since the 1960s into a hotel, restaurant, and accommodation of remarkable character. The Residenza Hotel Torre di San Martino is part of the Borgo di Rivalta and offers a completely unique style of accommodation in which ancient stone walls, wooden ceilings, and period furnishings create an atmosphere of genuine medieval Italy that no modern hotel can replicate.

The AATV Montenero estate extends over 1000 hectares in the municipality of Todi in Umbria, owned by the Todini family and operating with a modern and sophisticated approach to territorial and wildlife management that has produced exceptional game populations across one of the largest and most diverse hunting estates in the Pointer Italy program. The estate experienced its golden era between 1980 and 2000 under the leadership of Cavalier Todini and continues to reflect that legacy in the quality of the hunting it delivers today.

The ancient hunting lodge of the Garrone family, renovated over thirty years ago and now operating as La Locanda del Daino, is one of the most historically resonant properties in the Pointer Italy collection. The building is among the most historic in Grondona, formerly serving as a post office and refreshment point for travelers along the ancient salt road that ran from Liguria through this valley on its way north toward Salzburg. That history of welcoming travelers and providing genuine warmth and comfort to people passing through beautiful and demanding country is alive in every corner of the property today.

RATES AND INCLUSIONS

What Every Program Includes:

Full board accommodations in double rooms across all five nights. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. Professional guide service throughout every hunting day. Complete skinning and preparation of trophies at the lodge.

What Is Not Included:

Single room upgrades are available upon request at an additional cost. International and domestic airfare. Gratuities for guides and lodge staff. Ammunition.

Terms:

A deposit of 50 percent of the total invoice is required within thirty days of booking. The remaining balance is due sixty days prior to arrival. No refunds. Package upgrades are available. Pre-booked trophy species must be hunted. Swapping to a different species after booking is not permitted
