A minimum .30 caliber rifle is recommended for all Pointer wild boar hunts. Even more important than caliber is bullet construction. Premium bonded or solid copper bullets designed for deep penetration and high weight retention perform best against the heavy shoulder shield and dense muscle of mature boars. Conventional cup-and-core bullets are not recommended.
Camouflage clothing in green or brown tones capable of handling thorny vegetation, reinforced hunting pants suitable for crawling and kneeling, waterproof leather boots with ankle support and deep-cleated Vibram soles, warm base layers for early morning hunts, quality binoculars, shooting sticks or a lightweight bipod, ear protection, a small daypack, drinking water, energy snacks for full-day hunts, a rain jacket, and a camera.
Appropriate draw weight for large game, fixed-blade broadheads with proven penetration, release aid if preferred, range finder, and full camouflage including face covering.
Comfortable casual clothing is suitable throughout the evening. A warm fleece or light jacket is recommended for cool nights across both La Pampa and San Luis Provinces.
