The red deer, introduced to Argentina in the early twentieth century, has thrived in the San Luis Province landscape in a way that has produced exceptional trophy populations with outstanding antler development. Argentine red stag are now recognized internationally as among the finest available anywhere in the world, and the March to April peak of the rut produces the most dramatic and challenging hunting conditions of the season.
Wild boar inhabit the San Luis Province hunting estate in excellent numbers and provide action-packed hunting throughout the March to July season. They are intelligent, tough, and capable of providing genuinely exciting and sometimes unpredictable hunting encounters that complement the more deliberate pace of stag hunting well. Boar can be hunted through spot and stalk, from stands, or with dogs depending on conditions and the hunter's preference.
The blackbuck antelope found across the San Luis Province hunting estate is one of the most visually spectacular trophy animals in Argentina, with the mature male's spiraling horns and striking black-and-white coloration making it one of the most sought-after trophies in the Pointer big game collection. Fast, alert, and requiring a longer-range approach than deer and boar, the blackbuck is the species that tests the serious hunter's patience and shooting ability most directly.

The hunting day begins with breakfast at the lodge before heading out with your professional guide in a comfortable vehicle to glass the estate for the day's target animal. Your guide brings years of experience reading the terrain, understanding animal behavior across the different species available, and putting hunters in position for shots that reflect the quality of the experience rather than compromising it. The morning session takes advantage of the early light when animals are most active and positions the hunter for the best possible opportunity before midday. After returning to the lodge for lunch and rest, the afternoon session resumes as temperatures drop and animal movement picks up again toward evening.

The peak of the Argentine red deer rut falls in March and April and represents the single most exciting and sought-after window in the entire San Fernando hunting calendar. Stags are in full roar, actively challenging rivals and pursuing hinds across the estate, making them both more visible and more vulnerable to a well-positioned hunter than at any other time of year. Book early for this window as it fills well ahead of the season.
The post-rut period brings a different character to deer hunting as stags recover and return to their more deliberate feeding and movement patterns. Quality trophies are still available, and the hunting is often more technical and satisfying for experienced deer hunters who prefer the challenge of a calm and alert animal. Wild boar hunting is excellent throughout this period.

Two dishes define the culinary experience at San Fernando
A recipe of European heritage that has found its natural home in the deep pampa, wrapping venison loin in a puff pastry crust with wild mushroom duxelles and baking it to perfection to preserve every drop of its extraordinary juices. It arrives at the table with red wine reductions and the finest Cabernet Sauvignon or Malbec the cellar holds.

After days pursuing buffalo across the plains, this slow and generous preparation with tomato, olives, capers, laurel, and a dark stock made from the piece itself transforms the effort of the field into a feast of flavors. The asado fires burn every evening, Argentine wine flows without restraint, and mate closes every night in the gaucho tradition.
San Fernando Lodge hunts are conducted with the hunter’s own rifle. We do not operate a rental rifle fleet for big game hunting.
All firearms must be imported legally into Argentina in accordance with Argentine customs regulations, and our team will provide complete guidance on the import process well in advance of your arrival.

San fernando Lodge experiences dramatic temperature variations between day and night throughout the hunting season.
Muted earth-tone hunting clothing in brown, tan, and olive, warm insulated base layers for cool early mornings, wind-stopper mid-layer fleece, waterproof outer shell, quality broken-in hunting boots with ankle support for varied terrain, quality optics binoculars minimum 10×42, shooting sticks or lightweight bipod, wide-brimmed hat, polarized sunglasses, warm gloves for early mornings, small daypack for field supplies, water and energy snacks, camera.
Casual comfortable clothing for the evenings. The lodge is relaxed and informal. A light fleece or jacket for cool San Luis Province evenings is recommended through the winter months.
San Fernando Lodge handles all field trophy preparation, including skinning, caping, and skull preparation by experienced field staff from the moment the animal is taken. Trophies are prepared in Argentina to the standard required for CITES documentation and international export.
All necessary CITES permits and Argentine export documentation for trophy species are handled by our team. We work with established taxidermy and shipping partners who specialize in Argentine big game trophies and can arrange shipping to your taxidermist of choice worldwide.

San Fernando Lodge is accessible via two airport options depending on your flight connections.
San Luis Airport provides the most direct access when service is available from Buenos Aires. Córdoba International Airport is an alternative with more frequent domestic flight options and is typically a comfortable drive to the hunting territory. All international connections route through Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport (EZE). Allow at least four hours between your international arrival and your domestic departure for the airport transfer from Ezeiza to Aeroparque.
