The international chef prepares a menu based on the game hunted at the ranch, bringing the harvest of the field to the dinner table every evening in a way that completes the circle of the hunting experience. When the hunting day ends and the lodge quiets down for the night, the stags in the pampa continue their business, roaring across the darkness outside while the group settles in for the next day’s pursuit.
There is a particular quality to falling asleep in La Pampa Province during the rut that is genuinely difficult to describe to anyone who has not experienced it. The stags are out there in the darkness of the pampa, roaring at rivals and pursuing hinds across the same ground you will be walking at first light. You can hear them from your room. Sometimes from your bed. It is the sound of a genuinely wild place doing what wild places do and it creates an anticipation for the morning hunt that simply cannot be manufactured. Guests who come during the March and April rut consistently describe hearing the stags at night as one of the defining memories of the trip, independent of whatever happens in the field the following day.

Hunting at La Pampa Ranch is conducted at a one-to-one hunter-to-guide ratio, providing every hunter with the full attention of an experienced professional hunter throughout the day. The primary hunting method is spot and stalk through the bush and open pampa terrain. Shot distances are typically under 150 yards in the thick bush except when hunting blackbuck across more open terrain where longer shots are common. The flat pampa landscape creates a unique stalking challenge. With less natural cover available, hunters must move carefully, use available bush intelligently, and wait patiently for the right opportunity.
Important Note: Any game wounded by natural causes prior to the hunt must be paid at standard trophy pricing if harvested.
La Pampa Ranch accommodates bowhunters with tree stands, ground blinds, and water-hole setups. All primary species including red stag, water buffalo, blackbuck, axis deer, fallow deer, and wild boar are available to bowhunters.
Management red stag hunts are available for hunters wishing to participate in the estate’s wildlife management program.
The March through July season offers outstanding hunting opportunities across a wide range of species. Each month brings its own advantages, from the excitement of the red stag rut to late-season multi-species programs and combined hunting experiences.
March opens both the Argentine big game season and the peak of the red stag rut at La Pampa Ranch. From the first days of March the stags begin roaring across the pampa and the sound carries to the lodge in the evenings and through the night, setting the tone for each day's hunting before it begins. All species are in peak condition at the season opening and March consistently produces the finest trophy stags of the year. Book early for March rut dates as availability is extremely limited.
April continues the rut and provides exceptional stag hunting alongside buffalo, blackbuck, axis deer, and fallow deer.
The post-rut period brings a calmer but equally rewarding character to the stag hunting. Animals are feeding actively after the energy expenditure of the rut and while more cautious they are regularly on the move and findable by guides who know the pampa terrain.
The Argentine winter arrives in June with cooler temperatures and clearer conditions that improve visibility across the flat pampa terrain. All primary and additional species remain available through June and the combination of comfortable hunting temperatures and active animal movement makes this one of the most productive and enjoyable months of the season for multi-trophy programs.
July closes the La Pampa Ranch season and offers a final opportunity to pursue all available species before the ranch enters its off-season rest. Late-season animals are often concentrated around water and feed making patient hunters who know where to look particularly productive. The dove hunting season in neighboring provinces also opens in July creating a natural combination for guests finishing a La Pampa program.
The international chef builds every evening menu around the game hunted on the estate, bringing the harvest of the day directly to the table. Venison loin wrapped in puff pastry with wild mushroom duxelles, baked to perfection and served with red wine reductions and premium Argentine wines. Slow-cooked in a clay pot with tomato, olives, capers, laurel, and rich stock, this dish captures the spirit of a successful buffalo hunt. Goat and lamb cooked a la cruz over open fire, traditional Argentine asados, premium wines, and an open bar complete the culinary experience.

Pack layers for both warm days and genuinely cold nights particularly through the June and July window.

La Pampa Ranch is located sixty-two miles from Santa Rosa City and approximately four hundred miles from Buenos Aires. All international connections route through Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport (EZE), followed by a transfer to Aeroparque (AEP) and a domestic flight to Santa Rosa. Private charter flights from Buenos Aires to La Pampa are also available.
