Maiten Lodge Neuquén is not a traditional estancia. It is a collection of well-appointed mountain cottages set five minutes from downtown Caviahue with views of the Los Andes mountain range and the volcano that make every morning on the property feel genuinely special.
Three cottages of varying sizes accommodate up to fourteen guests across a combination of single and double rooms, each with its own living room, private bathrooms, and a design that balances comfortable mountain living with the attentive service that defines the Pointer experience.
Heating and Wi-Fi are available throughout. A fire pit outside the cottages is the natural gathering point at the end of a full day on the water, and the mountain views from this spot are among the finest available anywhere in northern Patagonia.

The northern Patagonia region around Maiten Lodge has a diversity of fly fishing environments that is genuinely extraordinary. Rivers, small creeks, lagoons, and mountain lakes all within reach of the lodge provide a range of fishing experiences that keeps every day on the water distinct from the last. All fishing areas are accessed by wading, which keeps the experience intimate and physically engaging. The rivers in this area range from highly technical dry fly streams demanding precise presentations and careful wading to broader reaches where nymphing and streamer fishing produce consistently.
The lagoons and mountain lakes offer calm clear water where trout can see every detail of the presentation and require the finesse that makes still-water fly fishing so rewarding. Rainbow trout and brown trout are the primary species throughout the program, with occasional brook trout providing additional opportunities. All fishing takes place on private land with access fees included in the program rate, ensuring low-pressure waters and exceptional fishing quality. Custom-tailored fishing packages allow every angler to fish water that matches their preferences and skill level.
The main rivers accessible from Maiten Lodge range from highly technical small streams requiring short precise casts to larger rivers where longer casts and varied techniques are effective. The technical streams are among the most challenging dry fly fisheries in Patagonia and reward anglers who can read complex currents and present a fly accurately.
The calm clear waters of Neuquén’s lagoons and mountain lakes provide a completely different fishing experience. Fish are often visible and presentations require patience and precision. Still-water nymphing and dry fly fishing produce consistent results. The scenery, with the Andes reflected on still water, is among the most beautiful fishing environments in South America.
The mountain creeks around Caviahue hold wild trout in remote settings. Short casts, careful footwork, and an understanding of small-stream water are essential. Brook trout are most commonly encountered in the colder, higher-altitude systems

In Patagonia the kitchen is inseparable from the landscape. Patagonian lamb raised free-range on natural pastures is the centerpiece of the dining experience. Slow-cooked a la cruz over a wood fire until perfectly tender, it remains one of the most celebrated dishes in Argentine gastronomy.
Rainbow trout from the waters surrounding the lodge is prepared a la tabla, fixed to native wood and cooked slowly over embers while brushed with lemon juice, garlic, and wild herbs. The result is a meal that captures the essence of Patagonia. Every evening begins with appetizers and fine Argentine wines around the fire pit before dinner is served.
Dulce de leche appears regularly on dessert menus, and traditional mate is always available.

Transfer to Neuquén Airport for departure
Most international flights arrive through Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport (EZE). Guests then transfer to Aeroparque (AEP) for a domestic flight to Neuquén City Airport (NQN). A Pointer representative meets guests at Neuquén Airport for the drive to the lodge.
Allow a minimum of four hours between international arrival and domestic departure in Buenos Aires. The drive from Neuquén Airport to the lodge takes approximately two and a half to three hours through spectacular Patagonian scenery.
