Duck hunting at Pato Real follows the rhythm of the Buenos Aires Province lagoon system, built around resident and migratory bird populations that concentrate across the flat pampa country during the May through July season. Days begin early with a hearty breakfast before departing for the morning hunt. Decoys are already positioned when hunters arrive, and the first birds begin moving as daylight spreads across the water.
The calling-over-decoys style that defines Buenos Aires Province duck hunting is at its best when birds are working naturally, and our guides know the lagoons that consistently produce action throughout the season. Morning sessions continue into late morning before returning to the lodge for lunch and the traditional Argentine siesta. The afternoon hunt departs around three o’clock for the evening flight when birds once again fill the sky and the lagoons come alive. Throughout the hunt, your field assistant manages calling, adjusts the decoy spread, and handles retrieves, allowing you to focus entirely on incoming birds.
The cuisine at Pato Real Lodge reflects the generous spirit of the Buenos Aires Province table. Argentine beef prepared in the traditional asado style anchors the evening menu, showcasing the abundance and quality for which the country is renowned.
Duck harvested during the hunt regularly appears on the menu, prepared using regional herbs and classic Central-East Argentine techniques that bring the character of the bird directly to the plate.
One standout preparation is Duck in Wild Herb Butter, slow-cooked and finished with seasonal vegetables and regional herbs. It is a dish that perfectly connects the day’s hunt to the evening dining experience.

Pato Real Lodge operates Pointer’s two-gun-per-hunter policy at every blind. If a firearm experiences a malfunction, your field assistant immediately replaces it, ensuring uninterrupted hunting. Getting to Pato Real Lodge is straightforward. Guests arrive through Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) and transfer directly to the lodge by vehicle. There is no domestic flight connection required, no airport transfer within Buenos Aires, and no additional travel logistics. A Pointer representative meets guests at Ezeiza and provides direct transportation to the lodge. Daily overnight flights connect Buenos Aires with major U.S. cities, making access simple and efficient.
