World-Class Dove Hunting in One of Argentina’s Premier Bird Provinces

The Hunting

San Luis Province has emerged alongside Córdoba as one of the great dove hunting destinations in Argentina, and the Pointer program at San Luis Resort gives guests access to some of the finest dove country in the province. The Eared Dove population of Córdoba and San Luis Province combined exceeds fifty million birds, concentrated around feedlots, olive groves, sunflower fields, peanut crops, and corn fields that cover the agricultural landscape in every direction from the resort. Doves leave the roost at first light and fly forty to sixty miles for food, which means the action begins immediately when your group arrives at the field and continues relentlessly through the morning session. Your guide meets you at breakfast to brief the day’s field location, firearms, and ammunition before an 8:00–8:30 a.m. departure. A twenty to forty-minute drive brings you to the blind where your field assistant is already in position. After the morning shoot, enjoy a traditional Argentine field asado served beneath a comfortable tent, complete with hammocks for a relaxing siesta before the afternoon session begins. Shooting resumes around 3:00 p.m. and continues until the birds stop flying.

Be prepared to join the 1000 Dove Club.

Why San Luis Province Is One of Argentina’s Great Dove Destinations

The Fields

Córdoba, San Luis, and Salta are recognized as Argentina’s three premier dove provinces. The reason is simple: vast agricultural operations provide the consistent food supply necessary to sustain extraordinary bird populations year-round. In San Luis Province, the primary attractants are olive groves, sunflower fields, peanut and corn crops, and large cattle feedlots distributed throughout the agricultural interior. These feeding areas draw doves from roost sites up to sixty miles away every morning, creating the sustained, high-volume shooting that has made Argentina the most important dove hunting destination in the world. San Luis Resort’s location provides access to multiple hunting environments, including flyway shooting between roost and feeding areas, feedlot shooting during peak concentration periods, and crop-field shooting across harvested sunflower, corn, and peanut fields. The variety of field types keeps every day fresh and productive throughout a four- or five-day stay.

Delicatessen Cuisine, Cordobés Goat a la Cruz, and the Finest Argentine Table in San Luis Province

The Cuisine

The cuisine at San Luis Lodge and Resort operates at a level that matches the resort quality of the property itself. A professional chef delivers gourmet and traditional Argentine cuisine every evening, complemented by special appetizers and drinks before dinner and menus built around the finest regional ingredients. The signature culinary experience is Cordobés goat a la cruz, one of the most celebrated dishes in the entire Pointer culinary program. A free-range goat raised on the natural grasses of the San Luis plains is slow-cooked for more than three hours over an open fire on a traditional cross until the meat becomes exceptionally tender and the skin perfectly crisp. Served alongside premium Argentine Malbec, it is a meal guests remember long after their journey ends. Additional signature dishes include dove tempura and mushroom risotto with chimichurri dove, bringing the day’s hunt directly to the table with remarkable finesse. Breakfast features eggs prepared to order, daily Argentine asados are treated with reverence, and excellent wines accompany lunch and dinner. Evenings conclude with Argentina’s beloved dulce de leche, creating the most complete culinary experience in the Pointer Wing Shooting collection.

Two Guns Per Blind. The Finest Fleet in San Luis Province.

The Guns

San Luis Resort operates Pointer’s two-gun-per-hunter policy at every blind. If a firearm jams or misfires, your field assistant immediately exchanges it and returns the other to camp for servicing without interrupting your shooting. All firearms are cleaned daily.

Gun Fleet

A premium gun fleet is available including, Benelli Montefeltro 20 Gauge, Benelli M1 Black, Beretta Urika 391, Beretta A400, Beretta A300, Beretta Silver Pigeon 20 Gauge Over & Under, Beretta Silver Pigeon 28 Gauge Over & Under, and Browning 525 .410 Gauge.
